The Mad Hatter, giant playing cards, a chequered floor and five different Alices…. It’s got to be the Loughborough Schools Foundation summer production!

In the adaptation of a traditional story, 35 pupils from the lower schools across the Foundation took part in the fabulous production of Alice in Wonderful, which truly delighted audiences.

But it wasn’t just pupils’ acting and performing skills that made the show; three Year 10 pupils supported backstage and in the tech box helping with lighting and projections, all of which contributed to the smooth running of the performances.

Five Alices took the lead role, seamlessly handing over to each other with help of a sound effect created by a Year 10 pupil, as well as a transfer of Alice’s famous headband.

Sally Bruton, Head of Drama at Loughborough Grammar School said: “We’re so proud of what this young group achieved and can’t wait to see them in more productions as they move up through the school.”

Luke (LGS Year 7) played Humpty Dumpty. He said: “I got to play my trombone which was great! The rehearsals were always fun and exciting; the applause at the end of the show was very rewarding too.”

Poppy (LHS Year 8) played one of the five Alices. She comments on her experience: “I’m so grateful to have been in Alice in Wonderland this year as it was truly an amazing experience. All of the teachers involved were so kind and supportive and worked so hard to bring this show to life for us; they really helped me develop my acting in this show.”
