SMDE 2025

Senior Musician’s Dinner 2025 was a resounding success, with a variety of great food, heartfelt speeches and amazing performances.
The evening kicked off with a lovely drinks reception in the music department, with some amazing starter platters to go along with it. After asking Jake the photographer for a few too many photos we headed over to the Eadon Hall, the main location of evening. This year the food was as good as ever with a choice of sticky pork cheeks, sea bass or a cranberry and camembert tart, of course we’d like to give a massive thanks to the catering staff who served this delicious food and made the evening possible. As the deserts were served we kicked off the formalities with a speech from Director of Music Ms Nicky Bouckley, who thanked everyone for their contributions and highlighted the importance of music. Then we had speeches from our music prefects Gabriel, Sophia, Anya, Dylan and Noah who detailed their favourite memories over the years and gratitude to the department and the teachers within it. This was succinctly followed by the highly anticipated awards which, to the Staff’s delight, had no mention of the traumatic deaths of pets or indeed anything else mentioned last year, but instead we invited LSM’s reigning Star Baker, Ms Rebecca Temple to present her homemade brownies as the prizes.
Then we got to the highlight of the evening, with a variety of ensembles and bands, from string ensemble playing on 1/4 size instruments, to a year 13 kazoo choir, these comedic showcases were thoroughly enjoyed by both performers and audience alike. Alongside these we had some more serious performances from a guitar duet to soloists Gabriel, Daniel, Anneliese, Izzy and Noah to the amazing bands playing songs from Maneskin to Billy Joel, these performance were certainly a core memory for all present and were without a doubt down to all the hard work from everyone who performed. As an outgoing year 13, this was a lovely event to reminisce with everyone in my year group before we embark on study leave, and am very grateful to Ms Haussels who organised the whole event making it possible.
