Back to Public Benefit

Loughborough Schools Foundation encourages wide use by local clubs and societies of its sports facilities. LSF currently has 27 such organisations, some of which have free use, and others pay a small subsidised fee. These are wide-ranging in user age groups and abilities through swimming lessons, over 40’s football to local cricket, rugby, netball and badminton groups.

LGS hosted a number of competitions including County Cup tournaments, Regional RFU matches and events for the English Schools Cricket Association.

Fairfield organises many sporting events for local state schools such as Years 5/6 Netball and Years 3/4 Football tournaments, a Tag Rugby competition for local rugby clubs, as well as the Loughborough Town Sports Athletics event which is held at Loughborough University, for the benefit of local primary schools.

This year saw another successful hosting of the Robbie’s Rugby Festival at our playing fields in Quorn. It is a fundraising event for two local youth charities, and the largest rugby tens event in the Midlands. LES make its facilities available for five days, setting up pitches, infrastructure, car parking etcetera for the two-day event at no charge. We donate much of the infrastructure, plus the time and expertise of around 30 staff and pupil volunteers. Again this year the contribution of time and facilities helped the two charities raise in excess of £17,000 jointly.

LHS pupils are involved as Sports Leadership volunteers at Ashmount School. In addition, LHS provides free facilities and refreshments to support:

  • Local Festival of Sport competition
  • PE Festival for U12, U13, U14 and U15 involving local maintained schools
  • PE Primary School Festival inviting maintained primary schools, at which LSF staff host and lead activities
  • Annual U12 Hockey tournament for local schools
