A touching gift to Loughborough High School will help support future generations of pupils while honouring the memory of a former pupil who remained connected to the School throughout her life.
The gift was left by a devoted husband in memory of his late wife, Alison (LHS 1952), who attended Loughborough High School during the post-war years. Through his Will, he chose to recognise the place the School had held in her life by supporting the musical education of its pupils.
Alison belonged to a generation for whom school represented opportunity and new beginnings. Years later, her husband chose to mark those memories in a simple and personal way, ensuring that pupils today would continue to benefit from the same spirit of encouragement she experienced while at the High School.
As confirmed following the administration of the husband’s estate, the gift will enhance musical opportunities for pupils, enabling them to learn, perform and grow in confidence through music.

Music remains a valued part of life at LHS and all of our schools, bringing pupils together across year groups and giving many their first experience of performing as part of a shared community. Support given in this way helps those opportunities continue to flourish.
This act of remembrance stands as a quiet tribute to Alison’s time at the School and reflects the enduring affection many former pupils and their families continue to hold for our Schools.
We are very grateful for this personal gesture, through which Alison’s memory will remain part of school life for years to come.
