A Royal Visit

On Wednesday 15 November 2000, her Royal Highness arrived at Loughborough High School, accompanied by chairman of the governors of LES, Philip Tomlinson and Lord Lieutenant Tim Brooks. The princess was greeted by Headmistress Miss Julien Harvatt and presented with a cheque for £6,256 for Save the Children Fund, before speaking to as many pupils.

She then opened an All Weather Pitch by handing a hockey ball to the school team captain, Jo Dyer, before watching the start of their match against the old girls team.

The Princess Royal also met pupils from Fairfield and Headmaster, Mr Tom Eadon, on her way to officially open the new dining/assembly hall. She then listened to the Fairfield School Band play a compilation including Rule Britannia, which she said was better than some of the regimental bands she has heard!
