From blackboards and whiteboards at LGS to scribbling on a graffiti covered wall in a restaurant, the Casa de las Empanadas in Cafayate, NW Argentina. N.B. Permission was granted by the owner
Rob (former LGS Geography and Sports Departments) has been in touch to say that his new novel, The Fugitives, will be available from all book retailers worldwide (both online and to order instore) from Thursday 29 May. This is his second crime thriller following on from Sins of the Past, released late in 2022. He started writing books about fifteen years ago, family histories at first, followed by children’s adventure stories and a social history of his old school, but it has since morphed into crime thrillers.
After retiring in 2013, Rob’s cycling distances have increased and he’s still very much into football and cricket. In 2024 Argentina was visited mainly for a holiday but also to do some research for his latest book. He travelled from the Malbec vineyards outside Mendoza, the country’s wine capital, through some incredible desert and Andes mountain scenery in NW Argentina to the little town of Cafayate, a centre for Torrentés wine production, onwards to the northern city of Salta and eventually the busy, bustling port of Buenos Aires where he visited the Boca Juniors football ground, La Bombonera.
Rob’s latest novel is set in varied locations: England, California, New York, Central America, Argentina and Brazil, with characters that are an eclectic mix of “goodies” and “baddies”. The Fugitives is a fast-moving story revolving around five different individuals thrown together by fate who are pursued by very contrasting organisations.
