Celebrating our Alumni Volunteers: a great November

,

Alumni from across the Schools have generously been volunteering their time and expertise this month at several events including the LGS Careers Convention and the LHS English Careers Event.

The LGS Careers Conventions, held on 14 November, provided current pupils with the opportunity to explore a wide range of career industries and the various pathways into them. We were grateful to have 13 alumni volunteering to host ‘stalls’ where students and parents could ask questions about the different professions from Formula 1 to charity work and everything in-between. A special thanks goes to Aaron Ansty (LGS 1995) and Tom Fanthorpe (LGS 1999) who also gave insightful talks, sharing their experience and advice with pupils.

The following day, five alumni generously gave their time to speak to Year 9 and 10 pupils at LHS about the benefits of studying English at A Level and at University. Alumni shared how their degrees helped shape their careers in a diverse range of sectors, from Journalism to the Ministry of Defence, showing how studying English can open doors to a wide range of professions.

We are incredibly grateful to all the alumni who volunteered this month. Your support plays a vital role in inspiring our current pupils, helping them make informed decisions about their futures, and demonstrates the strength of our alumni network. Thank you!

If you are interested in volunteering, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Development and Alumni Team.
