Year 12 Art Trip

Year 12 artists enjoyed a huge range of live artwork in a multitude of genres at Tate Modern and Tate Britain. They were able to experience work from 1540 to the present day. This included Kara Walker’s epic sculptural representation of Queen Victoria’s Foundation made in response to transatlantic slavery. They analysed Turner’s breath-taking seascapes and Steve McQueen’s photographic record of every Year 3 primary school class in London. After enjoying a calm boat ride along the Thames from Millbank to Bankside, saw the Houses of Parliament and St Pauls Cathedral from the water, they rounded off the day with a relaxing meal at Pizza Express overlooking the Millennium Bridge, before embarking on the busy tube journey to London St Pancras.
