Year 10 YSP Art trip

On Wednesday 16 October, Year 10 artists braved the West Bretton rain and mud to participate in a day of walking, research and creativity at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.  We spent a fascinating morning amongst the work of great masters of 20th century sculpture, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, as well as more contemporary but equally beautiful pieces by James Turrell and Julian Opie.  We also managed to catch a glimpse of some of Damian Hirst’s current series of giant bronzes with our artist and tutor Victoria Ferrand Scott.  The afternoon was spent making our own site – specific outdoor constructions inspired by the experience. We ended the day with a much welcome hot chocolate and a warm coach ride home.
