Fifteen members of Year 10 were invited to the ‘No to Hate’ day at the National Holocaust Centre and Museum. They had the opportunity to attend workshops on myth busting, stereotyping, how hate manifests online and the impact of hate crime. The pupils worked with experts in hate crime and communications, learning how to manage challenging conversations, how to think critically, respond compassionately and speak powerfully. They also listened to talks by both perpetrators and victims of hate crimes, such as a survivor of the Holocaust.

Part of the day was spent with representatives of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation to create positive messages and films on social platforms, supported by M & C Saatchi.

The work they participated in will contribute to a national toolkit helping schools to address hate and extremism.

The whole day was a very powerful experience for both pupils and staff.
