Woman of the Week

This month, we are launching the Woman of the Week (WOW) initiative. Our Head Girl, Yla, has filled the WOW board in the High School with photos and stories from LHS Alumnae.

Every week, Yla and the High School will celebrate an inspiring, alumni. The task for the students and staff is to go and find out who the Woman of the Week is from the board and then find her photograph, which will be hidden in a different and secret location – revealed on the High School social media accounts every Wednesday!

This week’s WOW is Dorothee Pullinger, LHS 1912. Dorothee was awarded an MBE for her work during WW1 and for managing 7,000 women munition workers. At the age of 25, she became a founding member of a women’s engineering society, and the first woman member in the institution of Automobile engineers! You will be able to see Dorothee in the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame!
