Learning about Politics is a vital aspect of all the pupils’ education and is done across the curriculum and through PSHCE in Years 7 to 11. In Year 12 and Year 13 students have the opportunity to study Politics in joint lessons with Loughborough Grammar School.

The focus at AS Level is on the government and governance of the United Kingdom and students are encouraged to critically assess how we are governed and the role of government in society. The A Level course evaluates American Politics from the same critical perspectives. In support of the subject the department runs a biannual trip to the Houses of Parliament as well as involvement in two annual conferences in London.  An optional trip to New York, Philadelphia and Washington, USA is also offered on a biannual basis to students in both years. Additionally, a thriving and popular student led Politics Society meets fortnightly to discuss current affairs, invite regular external speakers into school or organise subject related trips and social events.
