Stand up to Hate Crime

A group of Year 8 students volunteered to take part in a ‘stand up to hate crime’ ambassador training morning, which was organised and delivered by members of the Holocaust Memorial Centre. They also had the fantastic opportunity to listen to the story of a Holocaust survivor (pictured). Not only was this incredibly moving, but it brought it to life for the students and they were able to ask questions about her experiences in the ghetto and surviving such a horrific moment in history.

The ambassadors discussed hate crime in today’s society and the importance of being an up-stander. We will be following up on this work next year and we are looking forward to them delivering a whole school assembly and promoting what they have learnt to others in our community.
