Spring Concert 2022

Loughborough Schools Foundation Music Spring Concert,
Saturday 12 March 2022, De Montfort Hall.

The anticipation in advance of Saturday’s Spring Concert was immense; 2020’s was the last thing that happened before lockdown, and 2021’s was cancelled due to Covid. But the hoped-for event was totally blown out of the water by the concert that actually took place.

Given that the choirs and ensembles had not worked together for 18 months, restarting again just in September you would have been forgiven for thinking that this concert might be a less accomplished event than usual, but in fact the opposite was true. The students have worked so incredibly hard in the run up that on the day, they gave a performance every bit as accomplished as before, and possibly even more so!

Special mention must go to our major soloists Hana (clarinet) and Ranran (piano) and Kaavya (sitar) who was also joined by Mr Singh, our Tabla teacher. Smaller solos were also played by Ayeka, Edward and Lucy (all violin). However, I am immensely proud of all of the musicians who took part: String Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Band, Symphony Orchestra and the massed choirs including Year 7. The performances given by all were committed, sparkling and inspiring.

Since the concert I have received messages from many people, both audience members and performers, and the selection of comments below shows what a special concert this really was. The video is available here if you wish to watch it!
