As an institution we are in a unique position locally to offer a Sixth Form with all the benefits of single sex education, but with a mixed co-curricular and social offering. We have a teaching staff with fierce enthusiasm, passion for their subjects and a proven track record of excellent exam outcomes.  Our dedicated pastoral care teams and tutors routinely go the extra mile for girls in their care and our students broaden their horizons through an co-curricular programme that has outstanding breadth, depth, variety and choice. We value our students and are committed to working with them to maximise potential and give every chance to leave here with the qualifications, life skills, ambition and drive to go out and forge their future. We offer opportunities, a supportive and caring environment, a chance for girls to stretch themselves intellectually, be challenged creatively, and build friendships that will stay with them through the years. We are the Loughborough High School Sixth Form!

The majority of students study three subjects at A Level. The subjects offered are Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Computing, Design Technology, Drama and Theatre, Economics, English Literature, Food and Nutrition, French, Further Maths, Geography, German, Greek, History, Latin, Maths, Music, Music Technology, Physical Education, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology or Spanish. There is an enrichment programme in Year 12 and 13 which is shared across the three secondary schools in the Foundation and includes some additional qualifications. There is also a Health and Well-being afternoon and the opportunity for those doing three A Levels to embark on the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

The timetable is constructed around student subject choices; normally at least 7 students are needed for a viable group. Some sixth form courses are taught jointly with students from Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough Amherst School. Sixth Form students follow a PSHCE programme appropriate to their age and needs.

Entrance Requirements

Admission to the Sixth Form depends on a sound performance in GCSE; we expect our students to gain at least five grade 6s overall which should include Maths, English and a Science (regardless of the subjects to be taken at A Level). Individual entry requirements for each subject can be found in the Options Booklet.
