Mr Martyn Gidley featured image

Mr Gidley started his playing career and love of cricket on the LGS 1st XI cricket pitch as an old boy. In his youth he was the Leicestershire young cricketer of the year and an England Schools Cricketer. He moved into professional cricket and player for Leicestershire before moving to represent Orange Free State and then Griqualand West Cricket Board in South Africa. He played in invitational sides against Australia and England. After finishing his playing career Mr Gidley worked as a professional cricket coach in South Africa, where he gained a Level 3 coaching qualification before returning to Loughborough where he has worked as a coach at Loughborough University and supporter at Loughborough Town Cricket Club. Mr Gidley returned to his roots by joining the teaching staff at Loughborough Grammar School in 2004.
