Rugby Presentation Dinner

Rugby Presentation Dinner featured image

On Wednesday 13 March, the Grammar School Rugby Club celebrated their rugby season in style with the annual dinner at the Burton Hall. Unfortunately, our main guest of honour was not able to make the evening and therefore, at the last minute, Thom Smith kindly stepped in. Thom is currently with the Tigers Development Squad and has a bright future ahead of him. He epitomises much of what I look for in our rugby players, an excellent work ethic.

Once again, it has been a fantastic year with so many boys representing the School; 218 dinners were served for the evening, which goes to show the number of boys and staff that give up their time. I would like to thank Helen North and the Catering team for making the evening happen along with Clare and Marie, who look after us with hot dogs after home fixtures and keep parents and grandparents happy upstairs at Quorn with tea and coffee. Also, thanks to the Caretakers and Grounds staff at Quorn for the upkeep of the changing facilities and the pitches, and to Mrs Winship and her crew for videoing the 1XV fixtures. Lastly, without the Coaches rugby would literally be impossible; they give up their time on top of several other commitments to the School and their families. Thank you to all the parents; the amount of travelling we expect you to do to support your sons and the washing of kit is endless.

Presentations were awarded via a players’ vote from each age group and in their respective teams.
