Languages Masterclass

On Saturday 23 November we welcomed over 90 Year 5 boys and girls, from more than 20 different primary schools, to our first Modern Foreign Languages Masterclass of the academic year. Held once a term, these sessions give the pupils the opportunity to study two of the six languages on offer within the Foundation (French, German, Ancient Greek, Italian, Spanish and Urdu). All of the teachers were impressed by the enthusiasm and natural curiosity that the pupils showed.

In the Urdu session with Miss Mir, the children learnt how to say their name, greet someone and ask them their name. They also learnt numbers 1-10, and particularly enjoyed a team game! After the session Miss Mir said, “I was very impressed with their pronunciation and how quickly they took on board the new vocabulary!”
