At Loughborough Grammar School, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment that values academic achievement while placing the wellbeing of our pupils at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated team of boarding staff, counsellors, nurses, and the school doctor ensures that every boarder feels supported as they transition to life in the UK.
As a day school with boarding, our boarders are immediately immersed into a wonderfully diverse community with pupils from across the UK, Europe, and around the globe. Loughborough Grammar provides them with the best of both worlds, as a single-sex school on a co-educational campus. This means our pupils benefit from small classes and a learning environment designed to help them perform to their academic potential, and a co-curricular programme which sees them sharing opportunities and experiences with the girls at our neighbouring Loughborough High School.
The result is that our pupils perform strongly at GCSEs and A Levels, and develop into well-rounded individuals ready for their next steps in the world. This leads them into prestigious universities, both in the UK and overseas, and on to great careers in their chosen paths.
Loughborough is a town which welcomes over 2000 international students each year at our local Top 10 university, making it very safe and welcoming to our pupils who find it easy to quickly settle in and feel at home. Just a 5-minute walk from the bustling town centre, our boarders enjoy the perfect blend of campus life and easy access to local amenities. Loughborough’s central location makes travel effortless, with the train station just a 5-minute drive away, offering direct routes to London in only 75 minutes. The nearby cities of Leicester and Nottingham are less than 30 minutes away, providing additional cultural and recreational opportunities.
Our co-curricular programme is extensive, offering opportunities in sports, music, drama, volunteering, and academic clubs, ensuring that students can explore their passions and develop new skills. Weekend activities and cultural visits further enrich leisure time, while our award-winning Cultural Programme, recognised by the Boarding School Association, helps pupils embrace life in the UK.
With a strong emphasis on pastoral care and a nurturing family atmosphere, we aim to instil independence and confidence in every boy, preparing them for university and beyond.
We warmly welcome you to our school and invite you to explore all that Loughborough Grammar School has to offer.

Vibrant Boarding Community
At Loughborough Grammar School we believe boarding is about more than just a place to live—it’s about creating a vibrant and supportive community. From the moment a student arrives, they are warmly welcomed by their Housemaster and introduced to key members of our team, including our healthcare staff and catering team. Families are invited to enjoy a formal meal together, setting the tone for the caring and inclusive environment we strive to create.
Life as a boarder is full of variety and opportunity. During the school day, students immerse themselves in challenging lessons and participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities, from lunchtime clubs to music and sports. At the end of the academic day, boarders return to their house by 4:00 PM to enjoy structured homework time, evening sports, and moments of relaxation.
Weekends are equally enriching, with trips to nearby cities taking full advantage of Loughborough’s central location in England and its excellent public transport connections. These excursions allow our international students to explore the UK and gain confidence in navigating the country, preparing them for university life or future studies.
We are proud to provide a boarding experience that blends academic rigour, personal development, and cultural exploration, ensuring students leave with cherished memories, lifelong friendships, and a strong sense of independence.

Cultural Programme
What sets our Cultural Programme apart is the thoughtful selection of events designed to immerse boarders in the essential and popular aspects of British life. These activities not only allow students to enjoy experiences familiar to the day boys they meet at school but also provide opportunities to deepen their understanding of British culture.
