We have played 4 matches thus far winning 2 and losing 2. The boys are all healthy and well, our hosts are bending over backwards to make our time here memorable and enjoyable. We play our final matches tomorrow afternoon here in Chennai, before taking in the culture of Pudacherry and then some R&R at a beach resort in Mammalapuram.

Our 1st X1 have played excellently so far in reaching the Final of the Tournament tomorrow afternoon on goal difference. It will be a tough match that will test our resolve, the boys have stepped up admirably, but the host team GCHA are a formidable outfit. Their skill level, quickness of thought and movement will definitely challenge us, that said, I haven’t seen an LGS team play hockey as well as we have here in India for a decade or more. All boys have been brilliant but Oliver, Danny, Kaylan and Sam (who rolled an ankle today and may miss tomorrow’s encounter) have led the team by example tremendously well.

Joe, Max and Jared have also shone in the 1st X1 limelight. James surpassed himself today with a landslide vote for man of the match, following a display dominated by classy passing and plenty of vocal instruction!

The 2’s have played two games, Captain Limb is leading with his usual panache, whilst Abhijai and Willoughby are proving to be a dynamic pair in Midfield. Sam and  Will have been the two most unlikeliest of enforcers, Both of whom are putting themselves forward for the “most angry player in the team” award!

Elsewhere, rock steady performances by Dom and Charlie are helping the team to build the ever present team bond associated with all reserve teams on tour…….great to see and be a part of!
