Assistant Professor of Microbiology, Ellen Nisbet from the Faculty of Science at University of Nottingham came to speak in the Science Week assembly at the Grammar School. She talked about her career in microbiology and her research into dinoflagellate algae, its role in the symbiosis of reefs and its use in tackling malarial disease. Ellen encouraged the boys to notice things in the natural world; to follow their interests and develop the ability to think laterally, in the hope they too might find new ways to tackle some of the world’s problems and help others.
