Held at De Montfort Hall, Leicester on 14 March, the annual Spring Concert is a joyful celebration of the hard work and dedication of the pupils from across the Foundation guided so carefully and skilfully by the staff of the Music department.
Performers were drawn from Year 7 upwards through the Senior Schools and included staff and returning alumni. This years’ programme included works from Britten, Sibelius, Vivaldi, Elgar, Brahms, Vaughn Williams, Villiers Stanford and Hastings Parry, and showcased arrangements by, among others, Kate Burns of the Music department of Andante Festivo from Sibelius and Concerto in B minor for four violins: Allegro by Vivaldi.
Year 7 singers from the Amherst, Grammar and High Schools and were joined by the Amherst Chapel Choir, Cantilena, Choristers and Consort, the Loughborough Singers and Alumni Singers. Many performers took dual roles either singing and playing an instrument or playing multiple instruments making this a real celebration of the many thousands of hours of practice accumulated by everyone taking part.
The audience were very appreciative of the beautiful and uplifting music and singing from everyone involved; a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening.
