Congratulations to Danushka who has been awarded the role and title of Principal Cellist for the National Youth Orchestra. Danushka plays a big role in the music department at Loughborough Grammar School and we are delighted that he has progressed and gained well-earned recognition for his outstanding musical talents.

Danushka had the following to say about his new role:

“I started learning the cello at the age of 6 and my love for music has been growing ever since. I have been lucky enough to learn with some great teachers, and have always been so well supported by all the music staff at Loughborough Schools Foundation. They have given me so many opportunities to perform and enjoy music making in many different environments.

The experience I have gained from rehearsing, coaching and performing at school has been invaluable to me and I feel that becoming the Principal Cellist in the National Youth Orchestra is not only a result of hard work and practice, but also a result of the support and encouragement I have received from both my family and my school.”
