Loughborough Grammar School’s broad Personal Development programme fosters lifelong aspirations, goals, and values. It equips young men with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future. The Careers and Futures curriculum is central to this strategy, starting from Year 6 and spiralling through to, and beyond, Year 13. Recognising and celebrating that boys are not a homogeneous group, we work in partnership with parents, alumni, and external organisations to offer tailored opportunities that meet individual needs.
Access to independent and specialist resources
Through the School, boys have access to specialist careers resources:
Unifrog is an online platform designed for boys to track their personal development, document their co-curricular activities, skills and competencies, and access career events and up to date interactive day resources. This platform helps them make informed decisions about their future career paths and university applications.
Morrisby is a career matching tool to help boys discover their strengths, ambitions and goals.
Personalised Career Guidance
Data informed, one-on-one meetings with an independent career advisor to discuss individual aspirations, strengths, and opportunities.
Work Experience and Elite Opportunities
The School works flexibly with boys, families and organisations so they can access work experience and opportunities that will enhance knowledge, skills and employability.
For example, boys receive support to participate in work placements, attend academic lectures, engage in professional sports camps and competitions, rehearse and prepare for professional drama productions, gain experience in the charity sector, attend conservatoires, and take part in volunteering opportunities.
Careers PSHE Curriculum
Personal, Social and Health Education
Our careers education curriculum begins with fun and applied self-assessment activities to enhance boys’ meta-cognition and self-efficacy, aiding informed subject and co-curricular choices. From Year 8, boys build personal development and competency portfolios and learn about skills for different career pathways. In Year 11, boys complete Morrisby profile to inform independent career guidance. In the Sixth Form, boys continue to develop life skills, research career pathways, complete applications and receive specialist support during protected time.

"I felt very fortunate that during my time at Loughborough Grammar School I developed certain character traits which have been really helpful in my career. For example, I had a lot of leadership experience at school which I particularly enjoyed. School also taught me so many skills like working in teams, public speaking and networking. The staff at the Grammar School were great at understanding what my aspirations were and doing everything they could to support me."
