We are extremely proud of our Year 11 students on their achievements at GCSE. They have faced unprecedented challenges during their GCSE courses due to the pandemic but have impressed us by their “can do” attitude and mature work ethic. The skills and resilience they developed during remote learning and the positivity they showed during the uncertainty of how GCSEs would be awarded were remarkable. Their diligence and determination never wavered, and the boys can now be relieved and proud of results that accurately reflect both their hard work and the skilled direction and dedication of their teachers over two years of study.
The teacher assessed grades were based on a wide range of evidence encompassing both student work from throughout the GCSE and two formal Summer Assessments taken under highly controlled conditions, supported by extensive quality assurance. This included sampling by the examination boards who fully endorsed all the awarded grades. Almost three quarters of results were at grade 7 and above (equivalent of the old A grade), two thirds of the year group achieved at least five 8/9 grades and 11 students all achieved a full set of grade 9s. Huge congratulations are due to all our boys for their focus, drive and strength of character.
