Year 5 ‘A’ vs Oakham

On Wednesday 24 April, the Year 5 ‘A’ Cricket team played away at Oakham. The opening fixture of the season is always a challenging one as the Oakham team is made up from their U12 year group. Fairfield won the toss and elected to field first. As expected the opposition had one or two batsmen that could strike the ball effectively but the Fairfield bowlers all performed well and restricted Oakham to a total of 276 off their allocated 20 overs. After a short break because of rain, the boys came out to bat and despite losing a couple of wickets they all ran well and managed number of boundaries. With Oakham bowling some wayward deliveries, Fairfield soon passed the required total and finished with a score of 297 off their 20 overs.
