On Wednesday 26 January, LSF played host to the U11 Boys IAPS Hockey tournament. Ten schools were welcomed onto our campus, all competing for a place in the U11 National Finals. The day was split between both AstroTurfs and the 11 teams were divided into two groups and competed against each other to qualify for the quarter finals.

Both groups brought lots of closely contested matches with few teams coming out victorious with a winning margin of more than one goal. The group stages went right down to the last game to determine those who would qualify for the cup quarter finals and those who would head into the plate competition.

In the plate competition, Fairfield Prep, Altrincham Prep and Nottingham High went head-to-head in a round robin group stage to determine a winner. Fairfield played well however Altrincham Prep finished as winners of the Plate.

Our Fairfield U11 team conducted themselves in the highest manner and they did themselves and Fairfield proud. They narrowly missed out on a place in the cup quarter finals due to a late winning goal in the last group game however they kept fighting hard throughout. The boys defended bravely the whole day, only conceding three goals in seven games, resulting in a lot of draws. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to secure a medal on the day but the boys learnt a lot and got better as the games went on.
