Miss Carter’s Expedition to Everest

I MADE IT!!!

A huge thank you for all your sponsorship to Dogs for the Disabled. It certainly spurred me on to complete my trek to Everest Base Camp during the Easter break.

I trekked between 6 – 9 hours per day in temperatures ranging from 25 degrees in the day to minus 20 degrees at night. Above 5000m, altitude sickness became very strenuous, causing my heart to race like a steam train and also causing an overwhelming feeling of nausea. Nevertheless, the scenery and landscape was spectacular and I can liken the atmosphere at Base Camp to what I imagine it to be on the moon. A very tough, but rewarding experience and I’m extremely thankful that, together, our efforts will help people who are less fortunate than us.
