Inspiring Future Athletes at Triathlon Club

Available to pupils from Years 4 to 6, Triathlon Club is an exciting opportunity for pupils to develop the skills used in the three disciplines of swimming, running and cycling.
The club is led by Mr Chris Perham, Head of Triathlon and Swimming at Loughborough Schools Foundation, who is an Elite Triathlete and has competed in World and European Triathlon Cups, representing Great Britain.
Challenging yet fun, the sessions offer pupils the opportunity to train with elite British triathletes and coaches linked with the British Triathlon Federation squad, who are based at Loughborough University.
Using the Loughborough Schools Foundation’s extensive range of facilities, the young athletes train to compete within the Tri series distances in their respective Schools ISA and IAPS school competitions and in the East Midlands British Triathlon Junior Series.
Mr Perham also runs a Triathlon Academy, providing a first-of-its-kind offer to talented young triathletes from Year 3, all the way through to degree level students.
In collaboration with Loughborough College and Loughborough University, the Loughborough Triathlon Academy provides additional coaching and support from elite athletes, as well as nutritional guidance and the use of top facilities.
Chris Perham, who also Heads up the Loughborough Triathlon Academy, said: “I set it up around two years ago as I wanted to give more support to those in our Triathlon Club that had obvious talent. As it’s a joint venture with the college and university, members get to use shared facilities and train with others from across all three local education providers. We’ve got pupils from as young as Year 10 from the Loughborough Schools Foundation, all the way through to those currently studying a degree at Loughborough University. And all the coaches are elite athletes who compete internationally themselves.”
