Fairfield pupils have enjoyed a half-term full of learning and adventure as they’ve participated in chess day, immersed themselves in a Florence Nightingale workshop and taken part in activities for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

A Fantastic Turn Out to our Chess Day

Pupils in Years 3 to 6 developed their logic, resilience and problem-solving skills at our Chess Day! Playing against their classmates, this was a great opportunity to experience playing in a tournament. Well done to all pupils who took part and congratulations to the winners from each year group who all received a bronze, silver or gold medal!

Pupils Receive Letters from their Pen Pals

Year 3 received some very exciting letters from their Spanish pen pals at the start of this half-term. Sent from children at a school in Sevilla, the children found out the name, age, favourite colour and favourite celebrity of their new friends. All our pupils were very excited to write back and continue the conversation!

Learning Through Interactive Play

Year 2 pupils enjoyed an interactive Florence Nightingale workshop which complemented their in-lesson learning. Learning all about her work throughout the day, children had the opportunity to dress up, discover her impact on modern nursing and uncover history through exciting and engaging activities.

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

Pupils from Kindergarten through to Year 6 took part in a range of activities related to Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week including yoga sessions, lunchtime art workshops and reflection tasks. Throughout the week, pupils developed skills such as confidence, resilience and reflection to understand ways in which they can look after themselves.

Spotlight on Kindergarten and Reception

Our warm and welcoming Kindergarten, which looks after children as young as three, is always a hub of activity! This half-term has included construction play, sensory room fun and Forest School adventures. With the aim of developing key skills in preparation for School, the children learn through exploration as they are encouraged by specialist staff members to take part in a range of different activities.

Children in Reception also had a jam-packed half-term as they enjoyed using the parachute, engaging lessons with our specialist music teacher and ice investigations! Did you know? Each Reception class has a qualified teacher and full-time Teaching Assistant who are passionate about what they do and aim to give every child an enjoyable experience from the moment they enter School.
