Fairfield’s spectacular swimming team travelled to Repton last month to compete in the English Schools Swimming Association’s Team Relay Championship.

Both the boys and girls competed in the medley relay and freestyle relay, with the teams competing to get the top three fastest times for a place in the national finals of ESSA Primary Team Championships in Sheffield.

The boys started very strong, finishing first in their heat for the medley, however missed out on a top three time by less than 0.2 seconds. In the freestyle relay it came down to a very close finish and they managed to gain the third fastest time, securing a spot in the National Final.

The girls did incredibly well, placing third in the medley and second in the freestyle relay, winning a place in both races at the National Finals at Ponds Forge International Sport Centre.

There was great swimming by all those involved which highlighted the hard work and dedication the team has put in this year.
