The annual County Cross Country Championships were held at a very muddy Prestwold Hall on Saturday. The qualifying round had taken place a few weeks ago at Charnwood college with the top 14 in each race qualifying to run for North Charnwood. It was great to see so many children qualifying for the Prestwold Hall event in each of the categories. The morning started with a huge downpour of sleet just before the race began, it was absolutely freezing, however Annabel and Raabab changed into their running kit and ran with pride! The course was not as muddy as the spectator area, which became barley walk able. The Year 3 boys set off next with Ronnie and William, they began at the back of the course but quickly moved forwards with William running at the front for the majority of the race. William won the race making him the Year 3 boys county champion!. Year 4 girls saw Freya running in what was slowly becoming a very muddy course, however she ran brilliantly, even though she was so cold! The Year 5 races saw, Millie-Jean, Polly, Leo, Joshua, Miles and Ollie all running, it was great to see them putting in such a great team effort, keeping each other warm before the races and endeavoring to run the best they could, Ollie finished in 6th place. Well done to every single runner, it wasn’t the nicest day for a cross country, yet to gave it everything you had, representing both Fairfield and North Charnwood with pride, Well done!
