"Experience is not the be all and end all; so don't worry if you don't have significant experience in a particular area - as long as you can show an appropriate skillset and a desire to learn, you stand an excellent chance of entering your desired industry."

Your Loughborough Story

Can you tell us about some of your fondest memories?

Wonderful weekends away with my team mates in the Karting team when we raced at various tracks. Raced at the 85cc World Championship in Sweden in 2001. Receiving my School Colours and awards at Prizegiving evenings.

What was the best thing about School?

The fact that so much is at one’s disposal, not just in terms of lessons and learning information, but also the sheer breadth of extra-curricular activities.

How has your time at School influenced your life and career?

It has developed me significantly personally and gave me the tools required to succeed in life. It enabled me to attend university – where I met my now-wife with whom I have two children – and be able to utilise my languages skills in a variety of different sectors.

Are you still in touch with your school friends or teachers today? If so, who?

Yes: James Taylor (who was one of my best men at my wedding in 2014); and Mr Mellors, who has been a volunteer at the Great Central Railway.

How would you described your time at School in 3 words?

Enriching; Fantastic; Fulfilling
