Laura-Jane Ryves

Director of Development

My role involves leading the Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy programme across all four schools. Alumni are at the heart of the Loughborough Schools community. In many ways, you shaped the place it is today. And you became its face in the world. Likely, you look back on your school days as some of the best days of your life!

I’m passionate about education and I love helping people to create lifechanging opportunities for children who have the potential, but not the means, to thrive here. Every day I see how the lives of pupils, and their families, are changed for the better thanks to the power of the Loughburian community.

There are so many different ways you can get involved in making a difference. If you are interested in supporting your old school as a volunteer, or if you would like to explore making a donation towards a project you are passionate about, I’d love to hear from you.

Laura Woodhouse

Alumni Engagement and Events Manager

I have spent my whole career in Development and Alumni Relations and joined the team in June 2022 from the University of Leicester where I was the Alumni Engagement Manager for several years and where I went to University to complete my degree.

My role involves engaging with alumni across the four schools and providing opportunities for alumni to take part in such as events, or keeping alumni updated on the latest School and alumni news through communications. It is a busy and varied role which keeps it exciting!

In my spare time I like to go on walks with our dog Tilly, a little Yorkshire Terrier who we have become long-term fosterers to or get comfy in front of the telly and binge watch our favourite programmes!

Emma Fraser

Research and Insight Manager

I joined the Development Office team in March 2018 following a career break to raise my three daughters. My early career was in medicine so joining the Loughborough Schools Foundation was quite a change – each day is different and it’s a pleasure to work in an organisation constantly striving for excellence. My main responsibilities within the team are managing the alumni database with its 22,000 alumni records and managing the office’s finances.

I have three daughters within the Foundation, one at Fairfield and two at Loughborough High School. Spare time is therefore sparse but generally spent outdoors, walking or cycling, plus increasingly cheering from the sidelines of a hockey pitch. I’m currently studying for my day skipper qualification so hope to add some sailing to that mix.

Natalie Savage

Natalie Savage

Development Manager

I started my career with Loughborough Schools Foundation in 2016 having worked at Loughborough University as Outreach Officer, supporting pupils locally and nationally, particularly those from a widening participation background.

My current role is varied with increasing focus on fundraising and assisting in delivering the Foundation’s ambitious programme to fund life-changing pupil bursaries. With this in mind I am now a member of the Institute of Fundraising and have recently completed, in partnership with the Institute of Development Professionals in Education, a Certificate in Fundraising.

As a former pupil at Our Lady’s Convent School (OLCS) I really value establishing connections and building relationships across the Foundation and with our alumni. My children are also connected, my daughter was one of the last leavers of OLCS and my son has recently left the Sixth Form at Loughborough Grammar School.

I have always enjoyed a variety of sport, both participating and supporting, and in my spare time have recently begun running again. I also have a love of tap dancing and try to visit the theatre as much as I can.

John Weitzel

John Weitzel

LGS Archivist

I joined LGS in the Autumn of 1978 and had 38 great years at the School, including twice being ‘Acting Headmaster’. Since retirement I spend at least two mornings a week working with the Development Department dealing with Alumni and looking after the School’s considerable archive. I attend all alumni functions and regularly give tours of the school to returning old boys.

Regarded as being obsessed with Mathematics (along with cricket!) when I was on the staff it is history, particularly anything to do with the School, that now occupies most of my time. Researching a wide variety of topics, developing the digital archive –– and meeting with Loughborough’s wide variety of heritage groups is a lovely way to spend retirement!

I was greatly honoured to receive the Times Educational Supplement’s ‘Special Services to Independent Education Award’ in February 2019.
