Reunions at OLCS and LHS

Over the past couple of months, we have been joined on campus by two special groups of alumni celebrating milestone reunions since they left school!

In February, we welcomed back five alumni who attended the High School during the 1940s and 1950s. As part of their visit the group had an opportunity to sit and reminisce in the Cope Boarders room with tea, coffee and biscuits whilst chatting to current members of staff who popped in to hear all their stories. They were then taken on a tour of the School by LHS archivist Ellie Leeson (LHS 2018) so that they could see all the changes that have taken place since they were at school. Their day out was rounded off with a school lunch at Fairfield! We found out that the group had not been close friends at school due to being in different year groups and some being boarders but they met at a reunion later in life and have stayed in touch and remained friends ever since.

Two months later, in April, four OLCS alumni returned to celebrate their reunion after leaving the School in 1973, fifty years ago. Full of excitement they enjoyed refreshments in the Old Library where they reminisced with Sister Celine, who has spent much of her life at the School. The tour started in the Chapel where we were joined by two Sixth Form Prefects and current member of staff, Emma Cope, who gave the group an expert tour of the School, and even let them explore the garden in the Cloisters, which was a first for our group of alumni as they weren’t allowed to go into the garden during their entire 13 years at school!

Both groups had a wonderful time reminiscing, sharing memories and funny stories and reflecting on what has, and hasn’t changed.

If you’re already planning a reunion of your own and would like to include a school tour in your plans or want to come back to campus, then please email the Alumni Team as we’d be happy to help! Even if you don’t come back to campus, we would love for you to share any pictures of your reunions with us!

Or if you don’t currently have any plans for a reunion, but know you have a reunion year coming up, then why not join us for the Alumni Garden Party and Al Fresco on Sunday 2 July? Or if you are celebrating 10 years since you left school we have a dedicated event for you on Saturday 11 November!

You can find all the details you need for these events and more on our website.
