Your experience and skills could help support our collective mission to be the schools our parents would wish for, our pupils love and thrive in, our staff are proud of and our alumni community values and embraces.
We are seeking to appoint three new governors to join our governing body and work alongside our skilled, experienced, and talented Executive Leadership Team to help steer the Foundation. As a governor, you will support the delivery of the Foundation’s vision, ethos and strategy in our journey in inspiring our pupils to achieve and flourish.
Governors of the Foundation are charity trustees within the meaning of the Charities Act 2011. The governing body is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Foundation, its financial health and for ensuring that our resources are used effectively in pursuit of our main objectives. However, the purpose and role of a governor is much more than compliance, we need you to help us keep pupils at the heart of all that we do, ensuring that the organisational purpose is achieved.
What are we looking for?
To support our current and future development we would particularly welcome applications from those with a successful track record in:
- Human Resources
- Public Relations
The governing body is committed to equality and inclusion and aims to increase board diversity to better reflect the communities we serve. We therefore particularly encourage applications from people who are likely to be underrepresented, specifically women, LGBTQI+, disabled, and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates.
Governors usually attend between 7 to 10 formal meetings a year (4 full board, 3 committee or school board, strategy day plus ad hoc meetings). Meetings typically last two to three hours and governors devote additional time to prepare for meetings and attend training. There is also a range of opportunities to visit the schools to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role.
The Foundation and governors are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expect everybody to share this commitment. We actively seek DBS enhanced clearance checks, and any application will automatically include the active pursuit of all safeguarding procedures.
This is a volunteer role, but travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy
