Bob Griffiths Memorial Lecture

On Saturday 26 November, we welcomed back almost 140 alumni to Loughborough Grammar School to remember Bob ‘Neddy’ Griffiths, who was Senior History Master at LGS between 1955 – 1991.

Prior to the lecture, we hosted close friends, family, alumni who were taught by Bob and former colleagues for tours of the LGS Tower and history rooms. There was plenty of time to reminisce and share their fond memories of Bob.

Attendees also were given the opportunity to write down their memories of Bob in a memory book, which has been gifted to Bob’s family.

The lecture, ‘Spying and the Crown’ was delivered by Bob’s former pupil, Professor Richard Aldrich (LGS 1979). It was a fascinating lecture which provided insight into the remarkable relationship between the Royal Family and the intelligence community, from the reign of Queen Victoria to the death of Princess Diana, telling the story of how the British Secret Services became established. 

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event, it was a wonderful way to remember Bob.
