After 18 years as the Grammar School Receptionist, it is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Mrs. Sharyn Wells (LHS, 1969). Please join us in thanking Sharyn and wishing her all the best in her retirement.

“I started work at LGS in August 2004, interviewed by Dawn Briers and Neil Rowbotham (then a Deputy Head) and haven’t looked back. I have loved EVERY minute. Every day is different – speaking to parents, dealing with boys’ queries (usually lost phones or signing in late!) and helping teaching staff with the correspondence they send home. Masterclasses for local primary schools have been a huge part of my work over the last few years, doing the admin and having all the necessary paperwork ready. Also, sending out invitations to local elderly people for the annual VSU outing. I’ve got to know some of them over the years and it’s lovely to chat to them on the phone when they call… the other end of the age scale from a school environment.

I have retired so that I can spend more time at home with my husband, John. We will get out and about as much as we can and enjoy our time together over the Summer.I have met some amazing people over the last 18 years and made many friends. Paul Fisher was the Headmaster for the majority of my time at the school and John Weitzel his Deputy – a winning combination. The staff and boys became such a big part of my everyday life and I shall miss each and every one of them.”
