Match report by Davie Barnett (Class of 1977)
We had 17 golfers at Coxmoor on Thursday 1 October for the Autumn Trophy Meeting. We all arrived at lunchtime to be welcomed into the brand new clubhouse where we were greeted with coffee and bacon sandwiches.
The weather was very kind on the day, and this was reflected in some excellent scores on this very picturesque, but very fair, golf course. There were several scores of 30 points or more but tied second place on the day with 37 points (1 under par) were, defending champion, Jon Soars and Paul Graveling, with Paul just pipping Jon to the second prize on a back 6 and first 3 count back. The eventual winner with a terrific score of 39 points (3 under par) was the Spring Trophy champion from earlier in the year, Richard Underwood. Well done to Richard who has the very rare honour of winning both the Spring and Autumn Meetings.
Everyone who took part thought the venue, and particularly the course, were magnificent and also great value for money, so it looks like Coxmoor will be the venue for the Autumn Trophy again next year.
