THE QUINCENTENNIAL TROPHY AT ROTHLEY PARK GOLF CLUB ON SATURDAY 6 JULY

The annual Quincentennial Trophy was held at Rothley Park Golf Club on Saturday 6 July and there was a good turnout of Old Loughburian golfers.

Dr Ian Anderson (Class of 1973), Rothley member and Grafton Morrish stalwart, proved the old adage that there is ‘Life in the old Doc yet’ as he won the Rothley Club Quincenennial Trophy as well as the Old Loughburian Salver for the leading OL, with a fantastic score of 41 points off his handicap of 5.

The other top Old Loughburian scores were as follows:

Jonathan Carlisle (Class of 1989) – 39 points
Simon Green – 39 points
Jon Soars (Class of 1980) – 34 points

The next event is the Autumn Meeting at the wonderful Luffenham Heath Golf Club on Thursday 26 September, meet at 1pm for a bacon roll and there will be a presentation meal afterwards, all for the subsidised cost of £55. If you would like to play and have not already registered, please email Dave Barnett on davebarnett25@hotmail.com

The Grafton Morrish finals then follow at Hunstanton and Brancaster from 4 – 6 October and this year we have a very strong team. All support welcome if you can get along to give the team a cheer.

The final event of the year is the annual match against Nottinghamians, this year to be held at Hollinwell, one of 4 courses in the country to hold Final Open Qualifying. If you are available to play in this match on 15 October and haven’t already registered with Dave, please email him on davebarnett25@hotmail.com
