Grafton Morrish Qualifying Match – 14 May 2017

The Grafton Morrish is a scratch foursomes team event open to all public schools and over 120 schools compete regionally in order to try and qualify for the 64 team knockout stages which are held at Hunstanton and Royal West Norfolk (Brancaster) on the last weekend of September each year.

This year the Loughborough team of Nick Preedy and Dave Barnett, Nick Wainwright and Ian Anderson and James Pretty and Dave Saul set off on the arduous journey to Gog Magog near Cambridge on the sunny but breezy, Sunday 14 May.

The course was in excellent condition although the recent dry and cold weather made the greens difficult to putt on and this led to several 3 putts from all of our team. However, despite the team’s travails on the greens, the team qualified for the finals in 4th place on 82 points:

Nick Preedy & Dave Barnett – 26 points (Gross 80)
Ian Anderson & Nick Wainwright – 27 points (Gross 79)
James Pretty & Dave Saul – 29 points (Gross 77)

The finals take place on Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October and all supporters will be welcome! For more information contact davebarnett25@hotmail.com
