A Level

In Sociology you will consider a range of topics such as the current education system, the changing nature of families and whether religious beliefs are still significant in today’s society. This is an interesting and enjoyable subject which will open your eyes and may even lead you to question the way you think. Career choices can be varied, including criminology, social work, human resources, teaching and the police.

The study of sociology gives you the skills 21st century workers need: strong written and oral communication skills; the ability to understand complex ideas and apply these to practical situations; extensive research and analytical skills, confidence to conduct interviews and surveys plus interpret and challenge numerical data and statistics.

Assessment at the end of the course involves three exams lasting two hours each covering Education, Crime and Deviance, Beliefs, and Research Methods
