A Level

During the course you will study the basics of Physics but also new, cutting edge ideas; many presented in a context that relates to the world around us. Practical investigation forms a large aspect of the course and you will develop many new skills and techniques.

THE A LEVEL IS SPLIT INTO SIX MODULES:

  • Development of practical skills in Physics
  • Fundamental data analysis
  • Physics in action
  • Understanding processes
  • Rise and fall of the clockwork universe
  • Field and particle pictures

In recent years we have also complemented the course with exciting trips. For example, The Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Fuerteventura on a ‘Stars by night’ visit and several trips to CERN to view the Large Hadron Collider.

There are huge career prospects from studying Physics, much of the technology that affects, eases and enriches our lives today is physics based.
