A Level

You will follow the new Edexcel A Level Further Mathematics course. This consists mainly of Pure Mathematics with elements of Statistics, Mechanics and Decision Mathematics.

Pure Mathematics includes topics such as complex numbers and matrices. Statistics includes regression and goodness of fit tests. Mechanics includes momentum, work and power and Decision mathematics includes algorithms and critical path analysis.

You will further develop your problem solving skills and will model situations mathematically, recognising assumptions and limitations. You will reason logically, generalise mathematically and make deductions and inferences based on logical reasoning.

Assessment is by four equally-weighted examination papers of 1 hour 30 minutes each, two of which are centred on Pure Mathematics with the third and fourth papers centred on choices of modules taken from Further Pure, Statistics, Mechanics and Decision Mathematics.
