Loughborough Amherst School is delighted to announce the outcome of the latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection report

The latest inspection took place in November 2024 with the recently published report highlighting the School’s numerous strengths; particularly noting the supportive and high-quality leadership at the School, which ensures the pupil voice is heard and that all provision meets pupils’ individual needs. This is evident in the quotes below.
“Leaders listen to the voice of pupils. This fosters a sense of belonging, positive attitudes to learning and respectful behaviour.”
“Pupils feel safe and happy at school.”
“Leaders know their pupils very well and ensure that the provision meets their individual needs well overall.”
“… pupils acquire knowledge and life skills which prepare them for life beyond school.”
ISI inspections are undertaken to report on compliance with independent school regulations. Amherst successfully met all the required standards and received some wonderful comments and feedback from the inspectors.
Rather than giving an overall grading, the new framework for inspection, which was released in 2023, focuses on reporting in the following five areas:
- Leadership, management and governance
- Pupils’ education, training and recreation
- Pupils’ physical and mental health and wellbeing
- Pupils’ social and economic wellbeing and contribution to society
- Safeguarding
Anna Murphy, Chair of Loughborough Amherst School Board, said: “The ISI has assessed Amherst as meeting all the five standards required, with the report clearly highlighting our exemplary teaching and learning practices, as well as the sense of belonging that Amherst provides, which makes it such a unique place to grow and learn.”
