Loughborough Amherst pupils were delighted to welcome 1624 Theatre Company to Amherst on Wednesday, 1 March. The company performed an adaptation of Macbeth in our Chapel. The performance showed the course of the Macbeth’s relationship from the beginning up until Lady Macbeth’s death. Our Shakespearean guests finished with a question-and-answer session with our pupils.

Our pupils were also very excited to welcome author Kate Cunningham to school on Tuesday, 7 March. The pupils were introduced to the character ‘Vlad’ the flea and joined him on his many adventures in Kate’s historical fiction books. Vlad’s experiences bring many pivotal events in British history back to life for young audiences, including The Great Fire of London, The Roman Occupation and World War One. The children had a wonderful time engaging with history in such a fun and innovative way. Kate shared her writing with all year groups, she joined a Key Stage 2 assembly, and held interactive sessions for Years 3 to 5 and a ‘meet the author’ discussion with Year 6.
