Outstanding Individual Achievements
We are so proud of all our Year 13 leavers this year, for both their excellent academic achievements and their contributions over the years to the wider life of our community. However, I would like to mention the particular achievements of five of our leavers.
Congratulations to Naomi, who achieved three A* grades, and Maud, who achieved A*A*A. Given the ability and work ethic of both students, neither set of results is a surprise, but they are nevertheless very gratifying. Naomi is going to study Medicine at Newcastle University and Maud is making a post qualification application to Oxford to read English.
We would also like to praise Zoe, who achieved A*AA. These results are particularly well deserved, as they reflect one of the most sustained periods of focus, maturity and hard work that I as a Head have ever witnessed from an individual student. Zoe is going to study Business at Leeds.
Congratulations to Eleanor, who has achieved three A grades. An impressive achievement given how busily Eleanor has contributed to our community over the last two years: performing brilliantly as Deputy Head Prefect; performing in Les Miserables and the dance show; working tirelessly as a sportswoman and Combined Cadet Force member. And all this while coping with the serious illness of a parent. Eleanor is going to study Psychology at Nottingham Trent.
Finally, congratulations to Grace, who has achieved an A* in Biology, and A in Chemistry and a Distinction in Food Science. An unusually, focused, passionate and mature student – who submitted one of the best personal statements I have ever seen and put a great deal of thought and effort into her work experience – Grace achieved offers from all five of her chosen universities. She has chosen to study dietetics at Coventry due to its outstanding reputation in this field.
