Tennis players ace their GCSEs at Loughborough Amherst School

Following on from the success of Amherst’s Henry Searle who made history this summer as Junior Wimbledon Boys’ singles champion, we are delighted for fellow Amherst boarders, Mimi and Daniella, who have each achieved 3 grades 8 and 4 grades 9 at GCSE and are on the cusp of professional tennis careers.

Excellent results have been achieved this year, and special congratulations go to Bella, Bonnie and Susannah who achieved a range of grades 7, 8 and 9.

We are particularly delighted for our Religious Studies and English departments which achieved 22% and 32% grades 8-9 respectively and for our Music Department which achieved 100% grades 9.

Comments from Pupils

Abby who is one of our LUNTA Tennis students is really pleased with her results today. Abby has had to fit in tennis training and competitions whilst studying hard for her GCSEs. She’s delighted with her results which include 2 A* and that she’s now back playing after recovering from injury. Quite a year for Abby!

Ellie was so pleased with her results, saying, “I’ve passed maths. I’ve never passed a maths exam before!! She’s exceeded her expectations and is grateful to the School for giving her the tools to achieve, and she’s now looking forward to studying psychology, criminology and law.

Zoe was so shocked with her results saying, with a big smile, “The results are much better than I expected!” Meanwhile Bonnie was “absolutely thrilled” and very proud of her results in RE and English.

Gurina is “very happy” with her 8 in Food and is looking forward to continuing her education at the school to study Psychology, RS and Food, while Katie is celebrating, among other things, grade 8s in English and RE and is keen to start A Levels in English, RS and History.

Archie was very happy with his results which enable him to progress onto Maths, Physics and Economics. Bertie on the other hand was “pretty stoked!” with his results and whilst he’s selected Business and PE he’s not sure on his final choice for A Levels.

Clarissa was jumping for joy after receiving her results and mum was delighted, saying, “She’s worked so hard, I’m so happy she’s got the results she deserves!”

Lily, accompanied by her very proud father, was also very pleased with her results and is excited to soon be studying RS at A Level, meanwhile Esha was beaming having achieved her goals and a place to study performing arts.
