After months of hard work and dedication, Loughborough Nursery were extremely pleased to receive their Healthy Tots Status in August.

The accreditation signals the Nursery’s commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of their children by providing a happy and healthy environment in which they can flourish.

Working towards the Healthy Tots award, a health promotion programme available to Early Years settings in Leicestershire, involves meeting a range of four key criteria; healthy eating, physical activity, emotional health and wellbeing and oral health.

Whilst each key area has been seamlessly embedded into the Nursery’s weekly curriculum, children have also had regular opportunities to try new activities. They have participated in a staff-led ‘keeping teeth clean’ project that emphasised the importance of this daily routine, as well as taking mindful moments whilst using our Peace Room – a specially-designed, calm and quiet space – to practice yoga.

Jacqui Holford, Nursery Manager, commented, “As a Nursery, we strive to support the development of healthy tots, and our holistic setting is key to this. From healthy eating to physical activity, everything that we do on a daily basis at the Nursery is geared towards creating an environment where children can flourish. All our staff have worked really hard in their contributions towards gaining this award for the Nursery and we could not be prouder to have received it.”

The Nursery continues to embed the Healthy Tots values into their work and enjoy seeing the children get involved with related activities, becoming happier and healthier individuals.
